Are You a Coward or Genius?

How long has it been since you’ve stopped and given yourself a moment to just sit with whatever you’re running from? Nearly all of us are running from something, be it anxiety, heartbreak, or just life in general. At some point or another, we are all running. We have been conditioned to believe that running from our problems is a bad thing, and to an extent it is... but not all the time. The older I become the more I realize that my running is only triggered by my inability to deal with a certain issue at a certain time. By running I feel that we give ourselves time to lull over how we’ll deal with this later on. Not all running is bad, because not all confrontations are good. Some of them make things worse and then you end up with the urge to run even further. When we force our fearless selves to face things that we are not equipped to handle at that time we put ourselves in danger. We open ourselves up to unnecessary turmoil and in turn that makes our thoughts and the hallways of our brains the hardest place to roam. Think about it. Have you ever left a confrontation or situation pissed and thinking about all of the things you should have said, but instead you spoke off pure emotion? You regret it and your brain continues to replay everything that you left unsaid. These are the moments in which we realize that more time means more space to become emotionally ready to conquer. So no, running doesn’t make you a coward, in actuality, it makes you a genius.
I know what you’re thinking… How in the hell can running from my problems make me a genius. It’s simple because a genius is more intellectual than emotional. A genius is not acting and reacting off impulse and anger. A genius is calculated and ready for any problem coming their way. Sometimes a genius is an overthinker, and that can either be a good or bad thing. It depends on the overthinker. The thing is a genius is clever enough to know when the time is right and when the time is wrong. To face everything coming up against us at the right time, we have to start thinking like a genius with less emotion. We cannot continue to act on fear and impulse, because in the end it only hurts us. In turn, we all need to find our pace and run until we’re mentally ready to face the thoughts wandering through our mental hallways. Remember: We can’t run too long, fellow Geniuses!
